The UNESCO is currently inviting organizations working in the fields of journalism and freedom of expression to submit nominations for the 2008 UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize. Last day to apply: January 30, 2008.

Organizers said in a press release made available to IJNet that “the award honors a journalist or an organization that has made a notable contribution to the defense and promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world, especially if this involved risk.” The prize is worth US$25,000.
