Reuters fellowship to study at Oxford University available

Application deadline:  30th January 2008

Experienced journalists interested in pursuing a specific topic in greater detail can apply for a research fellowship from the Reuters Foundation to attend the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University.

The main goal of the fellowships is to give journalists the opportunity to pursue a research interest in greater depth than the pressure of their jobs would normally allow.

Fellows will be assigned an academic advisor who specializes in their chosen research field. During their time at the Institute, fellows will be expected to produce a substantial piece of research of publishable quality.

Fellowships last for three, six or nine months and fellows can enter the Institute in October, January or April.

Interested applicants should be mid-career journalists with a minimum of five years experience and have a specific research interest that they would like to pursue.

Applicants should submit a C.V., a short biography of up to 250 words, a reference from your employer, a character reference, a research proposal and several samples of their work.

Priority will be given to applicants whose research proposals match the Institute’s research interests.
